Through my abstract paintings, I explore the intricate dance between order and chaos, inspired by the ever-changing landscapes of nature. By manipulating surface and texture, I create layered compositions that invite the viewer to immerse themselves in the tactile experience. They are representative of the push-and-pull of growth and decay, the beauty of impermanence, and the resilience of life. By embracing both order and chaos, I aim to create works that are both personal and universally relatable.

Janice Kovar is an abstract contemporary painter, assemblage artist and educator based in Hamilton, Ontario. With a background in art and art history from McMaster University (BA Honours) and an education degree from Queen's University (BEd), ​Janice has spent many years teaching visual arts at the high school level, as well as creating arts workshops and artists talk within her community.
As an exhibiting artist, she has showcased her work in various galleries and exhibitions, including the Toronto Outdoor Art Fair (TOAF), Design TO, McMaster Museum of Art, Carnegie Gallery, Earl's Court Gallery, and the Art Gallery of Hamilton. Currently working from her studio at the Cotton Factory in Hamilton, Janice continues to explore and push the boundaries of her artistic practice.
