I am a Dundas, Ontario-based contemporary abstract artist who explores the tactile realm through assemblages and paintings.
​
Inspired by the interplay between the rural and urban, I use geometric abstraction to emphasize materiality revealing intricate surfaces, textures, and layers that invite introspection and sensory engagement.

Janice Kovar is a contemporary artist known for her thought-provoking abstract paintings that explore the intersection of nature and urbanity. Holding an Honours Art and Art History Degree from McMaster University, and a Bachelor of Education Degree from Queen's University, Janice has established a strong foundation in artistic expression and technique.

With a prolific exhibition history, Janice has showcased her work in numerous groups and solo shows across Canada, including the Toronto Outdoor Art Fair, Design T.O, Earl's Court Gallery, and the Carnegie Gallery, of which she is an artist member. Her paintings are unique in their blend of colour, texture, and composition which invites viewers to contemplate the intricate relations between the natural and built environments. Through her art, she continues to investigate the tension and harmonies between order and chaos, structure and spontaneity, and the urban and rural landscapes that shape our lives.

These sculptures are made from wood with a wood structural support and are 5.5" x 5.5" each. Made from acrylic and mixed media, they are ready to hang and have a depth of 3.5" to 4" from the wall.
